The invention discloses a piston rod machining method. The piston rod machining method includes the following steps that a section of materials are cut and shaped preliminarily; a large hole is machined in the outer side of the tail end through turning; the necked portion in the middle is machined at the same time; the large hole formed through turning is reamed through a reamer; a small hole is drilled in the head end and is bored through a borer, and the bored small hole is subjected to shrinkage processing; then, a piston rod is subjected to heat treatment and is subjected to quenching under the temperature ranging from 123DEG C to 432DEG C for one to two hours three times, and the surface of the piston rod is subjected to carburizing treatment; then, internal stress relieving is carried out, and the finished piston rod is obtained. The piston rod machining method simplifies production steps, original trivial processing steps are merged or deleted, and the quality and service life of the piston rod can be effectively guaranteed.
